The history of valentines' day

Every 14 February people send each others flowers, chocolates and gifts specially between the loved ones. Are you  one of them? do you know what valentine means or what what happened for this 14 February to be remembered?

Well, the origin of Valentine's day trace back to the ancient of Roman celebration of Lupercalia. held on February 15, Lupercalia honored the gods Lupercus and Faunus, as well as the legendary founders of Rome, Romulus and Remus. In addition to a bountiful feast, Lupercalia festivities are purposed to have included the pairing of young women and men. Men would draw women's names from a box and each couple would be paired until next year's celebration.

While this pairing of couple set the tone for today's holiday it wasn't called valentine's Day until priest called valentine came along. Valentine a romantic at heart, disobeyed Emperor Claudius II's decree that soldiers remain bachelors. Claudius handed down this decree believing that soldiers would be distracted and unable to concentrate on fighting if they were married or engaged. Valentine defied the emperor and secretly performed marriage ceremonies. as a result of his defiance, Valentine was put to death on February 14.

After Valentine's death, he was named a saint. As Christianity spread through Rome, the priest moved Lupercalia from February 15 to February 14 and renamed it ST.Valentine's Day to honor Saint Valentine. What's Cupid Go to do with it? According to Roman mythology, Cupid was the son of Venus, the goddess of love and beauty. Cupid was known to cause people fall in love by shooting them with the magical arrows. But Cupid didn't just cause others to fall in love; he himself fell deeply in love. As legend has it, Cupid fell in love with a mortal maiden named Psyche. Cupid Married Psyche but Venus jealous of Psyche's beauty, forbade her daughter-in-law to look at Cupid. Psyche of course couldn't resist temptation and sneaked a peek at her handsome husband.

As a punishment,Venus demanded that she performed three hard tasks, the last of which caused Psyche's death. Cupid brought Psyche back to life and the gods, moved their love, granted Psyche immorality.Cupid thus represents the the heard and Psyche the (struggles of the )human soul.http://www.history.com/topics/valentines-day/history-of-valentines-day.

Hope you learnt a thing or two, wishing you all a happy valentine and lots of love.

Showing off over the limit

Have you noticed how people try so hard to possess impressive material things? It is worry some to see someone who came from a very poor background, trying to hide it with some sorts of possessions such as smart phones, Brazilians or branded clothes.

I understand your background does not defines you, but it is needed to keep you remembering where you come from for you to know where you are heading. Why torturing yourself to have impressive materials, while you know for sure, that its not on gun point to own such things.

Nowadays youth live their lives as if they are in some sorts of competitions, is there  a reward which I am not aware of in this kind of lifestyle? You are not a business person and you have 2,3 phones, for what good reason do you use it for?, are you now the new telecommunications company? Some of them rush to buy cars for showing off purposes; you are not in some sorts of debates that you can not afford a car, all what is needed is own what you need when its needed not for impression.
Picture :just for illustration, content with what you have
They are there showing off while some of them don't even own  a nail cut. Who are you impressing with material things while you are growing nails like a crow forgetting those small  things that help you look like some one with mind. Its those small things  which matters to make you who you are and useful in the society, not a bunch of phones, a bunch of branded shoes/clothes or a bunch of Brazilians.

The beginning and the end.

Everything has the beginning and the end, yeah finally...oskola its over!

Make hay while the sun shines

Favourable opportunities do not often come, and it would be an irretrievable blunder to let them slip by either not perceiving them or failing to make use of them through cowardice and hesitation.

The "I" world

My curiosity is on high speed this days, which forced me to share with you what is going on in my little world at the moment.I use to wonder how those generations before us, use to get the information they needed and how close or friendly they were.

One might secretly/internally ask is she okay? I am overwhelmed by the technology in today's world some call it the "I" world. It is shaped by the pervasive impact of the Internet, then the iPod, iPhone, iTunes, iPad, iPhoto you name them.

This phrase has two meanings; the "I" world technology world and that "I" of my own world. In the "I"/my  world we want to use anything possible to get what we want, yet we wary of anyone we suspect of trying to use us. We are sensitive and selfish, at the end we want to remain in the driver's seat for ever because we want to be the bosses everywhere we go.

This is just a test to my new blog expect more to come as I will blog once a month. Hope you will find my writings interesting and helpfull. Meet u in October.
